In 2025, DMT Quest will be initiating a series of research programs related to the Wim Hof Method.
The first one will be an EEG study carried out by neurophysiologist Rodrigo Montenegro. The research will take place at Leandre Omeir’s facility, the Wim Hof Method Center in France. The study will consist of measuring changes in neural oscillatory activity during and following 20 minutes of WHM breathing instructions. The study will include a combination of WHM instructors and naive subjects. This study is fully funded by DMT Quest.
The second study will take place at UC Davis under the supervision of neuroscientist Dr. David Olson. This study will involve live-microdialysis of the mammalian brain during and following cold immersion to measure whether DMT levels are increased from this exposure. There is evidence to suggest that DMT is increased from cold immersion due to the hormetic effects driving hippocampal neurogenesis, large-scale neuroplasticity, and anti-inflammatory effects. DMT Quest has donated $50,000 USD towards this research and is asking cold immersion enthusiasts to contribute an additional $50,000 USD to carry out the study. The third study will take place at UC San Diego under the supervision of neuroscientists Dr. Fadel Zeidan and Dr. Jon Dean. The study will consist of subjects doing the Wim Hof Method breathing protocol and measuring changes in cerebrospinal fluid production, displacement and glymphatic function. The study will be based on the review paper published in the journal Medical Hypotheses titled, “Can Wim Hof Method breathing induce conscious metabolic waste clearance of the brain?“. DMT Quest has donated $75,000 USD towards this research and is asking WHM practitioners and supporters to contribute an additional $75,000 USD to carry out the study. Thank you for helping contribute to this very important research programs! Please share with any and all WHM supporters.
